About

After graduating from La Trobe University in Victoria Australia, with a combined major in Sociology and Eastern Studies in 1980, Peter Burns studied Palmistry (Chirology science of the hands) under Andrew Verity at the Southern School of Naturopathy in Fitzroy, in Australia.

These studies led to an interest in self development, which he pursued at The Self Development Centre in Victoria, run by John and Janet Usher. Peter attended a number of residential courses, and assisted at other courses in Melbourne and Perth.

Peter began practising and teaching Palmistry (Hand Analysis) in Ballarat, Victoria; and in Perth, Western Australia. He counselled hundreds of people at the Fremantle Markets, and established a busy practise at his home in Applecross.

In 1988 he took up formal studies in Astrology, gaining his Basic Certificate with the Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA) in 1989. Thus began a lifelong study of this fascinating subject, leading to studies of the different branches of astrology, writing, counselling and teaching.

In 1997 Peter gained the Practitioners Certificate with the FAA. In November 1999, after returning to Victoria, Peter became the editor of Horizons, the official newsletter of the Victorian Astrologers Association (VAA).

In January 2000 he became the national editor of the Journal of the Federation of Australian Astrologers (FAA). He currently holds this position, and is a current committee member and webmaster for the VAA. Peter has lectured at meetings in the Western Australian and Victorian branches of the FAA.

In December 2005 Peter Burns was elected President of the Victorian Astrology Association.

Peter Burns has authored a number of articles on palmistry and astrology in various national and state publications.

In 2008 Peter Burns was granted the ‘Horary Craftsman Certificate’ from John Frawley.
